Debora Coelho Brown Nose Attempt Fails--Brian Gomes Back in Safety Saddle

Brian Gomes is back ensconsed with super glue as the Chairman of New Bedford's City Council Public Safety and Neighborhoods Committee after two disastrous years with Debora Coelho at the helm. According to Gomes, Coelho was a wretched failure. It was obvious to most city residents that crime was spiraling out of control. Although, Coelho insisted crime was down. According to Gomes, not only is Coelho "Dumb as a rock. She's extremely fucking lazy also. Only that husband of hers is lazier."

A feud between councilors Brian Gomes and Linda Morad resulted in Morad emasculating Gomes by appointing Coelho as Safety Chair in 2016--and the city suffered.

Coelho attempted to cling onto the Safety Czar role with a brown-nosing nomination of Morad for Council President during the initial meeting of 2018.

“I would like to nominate Linda Morad” for council president, Councilor Coehlo stood to deliver a glowing portrait of her nominee.

“She is a lifelong resident of New Bedford. She dearly loves her family. She attended local public schools,” Coehlo rhapsodized as Morad stared stiffly with her hands clasped.

Brian Gomes, Driving the Safety Bus Again
Coelho's flattery of Morad failed as Morad had little choice but to replace the beleaguered Coelho with the popular Gomes. In the 2017 election, Coelho finished last among the five incumbents. But she beat out two unknown challengers to cling on to her council seat. In an unusual move, the city's only newspaper, the Standard Times endorsed "plunking" for Coeho. Plunking is casting all five available votes for a single candidate. The ST was unable to provide a rational explanation for the endorsement which was ultimately successful in dragging Coelho across the finish line. It is believed by some that the endorsement was a favor to decrepit Standard Times alumni Ken Hartnett who has been rumored to have a Lewinsky based relationship with Coelho.

Debora Coelho, failure
In an effort to smooth things over, Morad did appoint Debora Coelho to the coveted position of Dog Park Committee Chairman.
